    The designer, L. Borgan Studios, incorporated five different tiles for this downtown San Diego entry: 1" glass tile; 12" marble tile; 1" tumbled marble tile; 1/4" x 12" brass liner; 4" glass tile.

    The tiled shower doorway on this Coronado master bath is not only arched but also on a curved wall.

    The very bottom of the orange arch of this Rancho Santa Fe fireplace had to be cut in a concave arc. Then the top of the same pieces had to be cut in a convex arc. Then the green tiles had to be cut in a concave arc, matching the convex arc of the orange tiles. And finally, all the tiles had to have radiating cuts.

  • La Jolla Kitchen Four Deco Tiles 31
    Note the four deco tiles on the splash of this La Jolla kitchen- they have been plunge cut into the larger 12" tiles. This requires perfect measuring and a steady hand. The 6" tiles on the bar-top are custom painted with V-cap trim.

    Besides the obvious, this bathroom had some other problems: First, the toilet needed to be moved to accommodate a much needed larger vanity; the outlet was in the wrong place; A plastic accordion door needed to be replaced with a pocket door, and the shower head needed to be raised to accommodate the tall owners. (See previous photo).
